We have ourselves a star-studded up-tempo matchup at the Barclays Center tonight, and the Sparks’ leading scorer, Kelsey Plum, will need to stay hot if the Sparks want to hang with the Liberty.
Plum is fresh off a cameo in “Happy Gilmore 2” and, much like Gilmore, Plum has been tremendous from long range. Over her last six games, Plum has drained at least three shots from downtown.
The three-ball should be a big part of her arsenal tonight, as while the Liberty are solid in terms of 3-point percentage allowed, they are 10th in the league in 3-pointers allowed to guards specifically.
With Plum averaging nearly seven long-range attempts per game this season, if she can drain three, that will get her halfway to her point total. However, the 3-pointers account for just half of Plum’s average field goal attempts.
She is a high-volume scorer who struggled in the first meeting between these two teams. While she went just 2 for 10 from the field, she still racked up 13 points.
With a much better shooting night expected, her points total is the target tonight.

As I mentioned above, Plum has been on a heater, and we are getting a discount tonight because of the tough road matchup.
However, there is no reason not to ride the hot hand tonight, as she has eclipsed this total in seven of her last 10 games, averaging 20 points per game.
