Where to Bet on Sports in Delaware

On June 5, 2018, Delaware beat New Jersey to the punch and became the first state outside of Nevada to legalize sports betting following the 2018 Supreme Court decision to overturn PASPA.

Currently Delaware does not offer mobile betting, but it hopes to in the future. Bettors are only able to place wagers inside the confines of a casino.

The Delaware Lottery manages all sports betting inside the state.

Here are three casinos with sportsbooks that accept wagers in Delaware:

Dover Downs Hotel and Casino in Dover

On June 5, 2018, Governor John Carney placed the first ever legal bet in Delaware at Dover Downs. Carney bet $10 on the Philadelphia Phillies, who won the game and cashed the bet. The casino and sportsbook is located adjacent to Dover International Speedway, which holds NASCAR races each year.

Delaware Park and Casino in Wilmington

Delaware Park is located in Wilmington, which is in the northern part of the state and conveniently close to major metropolitan areas such as Philadelphia and Baltimore. It is also within a few hours drive of New York City and the New England area. One unique feature of this sportsbook is that it uses the old, classic light up boards that used to be featured in the Vegas sportsbooks.

Harrington Raceway and Casino in Harrington

Harrington’s sportsbook is located in the central part of the state. It has a harness racing track attached to it and tends to get crowded with horse racing bettors during scheduled race times. It is located roughly an hour-and-a-half from Philadelphia.
