The Mercury host the Dream in the WNBA’s lone Wednesday night matchup. This’ll be the first meeting of the season between these teams and both sides are looking to get back in the win column.
For Phoenix, this is the Mercury’s first game since the All-Star Break, though they lost their first-half finale to Minnesota. Meanwhile, Atlanta will be playing the second leg of a back-to-back after it opened the second half with a loss to the Aces on Tuesday night.

Satou Sabally and Kahleah Copper are both expected to return tonight after missing the past four games. In that stretch, Alyssa Thomas has crushed — averaging 18.3 points per game, including a career-high 29 against Minnesota. Thomas had only taken more than 13 shots once all season prior to the absences of both Sabally and Copper. However, in the four games without them, Thomas averaged 15.5 shots per game.
Copper has only played six games this season, but has paced the team in usage rate when she’s been available. Sabally is a close second in usage rate and Thomas has averaged 13.5 points on 10.3 shots in the games she’s played with both Copper and Sabally.
This matchup is on the tougher side with Atlanta ranking sixth in defensive rating and fourth in points allowed per game. Phoenix should have some success, but I’d expect Thomas to fall back into more of a facilitating role.
Best Bet: Alyssa Thomas Under 14.5 Points
