The Aces lost by 14 to the Liberty in this building earlier this season, but a lot has changed since then.

After starting the season 9-0, the Liberty and just 3-6 in their past nine and have lost three of their past four. New York is 1-1 on its current homestand with a win over the Sparks and a loss to the Storm, but will look to establish some momentum and reestablish itself as one of the league’s premier teams tonight against the Aces.

While New York has underwhelmed of late, Las Vegas has done so all season and sits at .500 as we approach the All-Star Game. The Aces are 5-5 over their past 10 games, but will be playing their fourth consecutive road game tonight.

Will travel fatigue catch up to them? We’ll find out tonight, but here’s a look at how our WNBA betting expert sees this game playing out.

The Liberty are 2-5 in their past seven games, but look a little bit shook without Jonquel Jones out there. They definitely don’t look like the Liberty — the incredible unstoppable Liberty they were to start the season. Jones will be back soon, but not for this game.

On the other side of things, life is even worse for the Aces. They’re 9-9 this season with a negative net rating — not even like a -0.1 or something, but they’re basically a -2 team by net rating — and that’s against the fifth-easiest schedule.

Las Vegas’ defense is terrible and Jewell Loyd has been terrible. That fit does not seem good. Kelsey Plum misses the Aces and the Aces miss Kelsey Plum. I wonder, if you talk to all parties involved, if that would look a lot different if they had a second chance of doing that from both sides of it.

This is game four of a four-game road trip for the Aces and it’s the Liberty’s third game of a mega, eight-game home stand. The Liberty rolled by 14 over the Aces in the season opener and yes, they had Jones in that game, but really there were a lot of pieces clicking in that game.

I just don’t see how you look at these two teams, even with the Liberty scuffling a little bit right now, and see that the Liberty are only like two and a half points better, if you say two and a half for home. Again, this is middle of a road trip for Vegas and the middle of a homestand for New York.

Best Bet: Liberty -5
