Hubert Hurkacz Betting Preview: Don’t Sleep on Hubi
It hasn’t been a great season thus far for Hurkacz, as the Polish veteran entered Geneva with just a 10-9 record on the season.
While a quarterfinal finish at a 1000-event in Rome and a final appearance in Geneva gives him some hope and momentum heading into Roland Garros, Hurkacz lost an opening-round match to Benjamin Bonzi in Madrid and only reached the second round at the Australian Open earlier this season.
He’s currently 31st in the world, which is his lowest ranking since early 2021.
Hurkacz’s biggest weapon remains his serve, as he ranks seventh on the ATP Tour over the last 52 weeks in Serve Rating, including second on clay.
His EloRating on clay (18th) also bodes well for him in this match.
Joao Fonseca Betting Preview: Coming Out Party for Brazilian
Whenever there’s a discussion about Next Gen stars in tennis, Joao Fonseca is at the top of the list. The 18-year-old won the Next Gen ATP Finals at the end of last season before going on to upset Andrey Rublev in the opening round of the Australian Open.
From there, Fonseca won his first ATP title in Buenos Aires, fighting through matches against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Francisco Cerundolo.
Also in 2025, Fonseca won a Challenger Tour title in Phoenix, beating Kei Nishikori and Alexander Bublik in the process.
Tennis die hards know Fonseca’s name and his potential, but this could be his coming out party in front of a global audience.
Hurkacz vs Fonseca Prediction, Betting Analysis
Fonseca is a superstar in the making, but I think there’s value on Hurkacz as an underdog. His form is starting to turn a bit after his recent runs in Italy and Switzerland, and Fonseca hasn’t exactly had a great clay court season himself (1-3 overall dating back to April, with the lone win coming against Elmer Moller).
Plus, this is Fonseca’s first ever match at the French Open and his third main-draw Grand Slam match of his career.
This isn’t to discount his performance at the Aussie Open, but he played three qualifying matches — allowing him to get used to the surface — before beating Rublev. That won’t be the case in this event.
I’m going to trust that Hurkacz’s serve and experience will keep Fonseca (who’s outside the top 80 in Return Rating over the last 52 weeks) off balance.
I’m not saying the Brazilian will get blown out, but I expect Hurkacz to finally start to turn things around under his new coach Ivan Lendl.
