Monfils vs Draper Preview, Prediction

Monfils Betting Preview

Whether you’re a fan of him or not, it’s nice to see Monfils having a resurgent season in 2025 after battling injuries for years.

The 38-year-old is up to 42nd in the ATP rankings and holds a 16-7 overall record on tour this season, including a 250-title in Auckland and a Round of 16 appearance in the Australian Open.

Most importantly for this match, Monfils’ showmanship, gritty play and athletic style goes a long way in his home country.

He’s 40-16 all-time at Roland Garros (tied for the most wins at the event in the Open era), featuring some classic five-set matches (12 wins in five sets to be exact) and exciting moments.

Monfils dropped the first two sets to Hugo Dellien on Tuesday in the first round of the French Open, only to come back and win in five to advance.

The Frenchman has a fitness advantage over a lot of opponents, but he’s still a 38-year-old coming off a 3 1/2 hour match.

Draper Betting Preview

While Monfils is having a good season, Draper is having an even better one. The Brit is up to a career-high fifth overall in the ATP rankings after winning Indian Wells in March.

More impressively, Draper, who’s not exactly a clay maestro, made the final in Madrid and the quarterfinals in Rome. The two matches he lost came against Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz (hardly questionable defeats), and he topped Lorenzo Musetti.

There’s not many players in the world who are playing better tennis than Draper, and that’s carried over into the French Open.

He dropped the opening set in his first-round match against Mattia Bellucci as he got his feet under him, but he then cruised past the Italian thanks to three quick sets.

Monfils vs Draper Predictions, Betting Analysis

This is a tough play for me because my heart wants to believe in the late-night Monfils magic on Philippe Chatrier.

But my head says otherwise.

When factoring in career results, Draper’s worst surface is clay. But he’s performed very well on the dirt this season, beating one of the most in-form players in the world in Musetti and Tommy Paul.

While this match won’t be uncompetitive, I like the value on Draper winning in straight sets, especially with Monfils’ recovery time being very limited after finishing following midnight local time the other evening.

Pick: Jack Draper 3-0 (+100 Via FanDuel)
