Alcaraz vs Paul Preview, Prediction

Alcaraz Betting Preview

Alcaraz is a heavy favorite in this quarterfinal duel, and for good reason.

The Spaniard is the defending French Open champion and has been nearly unstoppable on clay this season, racking up 1000 titles at Monte-Carlo and Rome and an appearance in the final in Barcelona.

However, Alcaraz has dropped a set in his last three matches at Roland Garros (vs. Ben Shelton, Damir Dzumhur and Fabian Marozsan), and all three of those went over this number of 31.5.

It’s not that Alcaraz is playing poorly, but there always seems to be a short time where his play drops off a bit, allowing an opponent to take advantage.

Also, because Alcaraz is one of the best players in the sport and the top target at the French Open, he always gets his opponent’s best shot.

Paul Betting Preview

It’s remarkable that Paul is still in this event. The American looked dead in the water when he was trailing two sets to zero against Marton Fucsovics. But with his strong fitness, Paul rallied to win the match in five.

After that victory, it was disclosed by Paul himself that he’s fighting through a couple of injuries, including an abdomen issue.

That didn’t stop the American from taking down Karen Khachanov in five sets in the next round before ousting Alexei Popyrin in a quick three-setter.

The straight-set match and a day off will give Paul a chance to recoup before this showdown.

Also working in Paul’s favor is his past success against Alcaraz. While Paul trails 4-2 in the head-to-head results, he took a set off the Spaniard at Wimbledon (2024) and played a tight three-setter with him at Cincinnati (2023) in two of the defeats.

Alcaraz vs Paul Predictions, Betting Analysis

I’m expecting Alcaraz to win this match, but I also expect Paul to win at least a set, pushing the total over the number.

Even as Alcaraz continues his clay-court success, Paul’s history against his opponent and Alcaraz’s recent results in Paris point to this play having value.

As long as Paul doesn’t reaggravate his injury issues, he should put forth his best effort in the deepest French Open run of his career.

Alcaraz vs Paul Pick: Over 31.5 (Play to 32.5)
