Mexico has one clear goal in this tournament: to win their 10th Gold Cup title and solidify their reign as the most successful team in CONCACAF. Javier Aguirre’s squad finished equal on points with Costa Rica in the group stage but claimed the top spot thanks to a one-goal difference.
In the quarterfinals, El Tri handled an always tough Saudi Arabia side with a solid 2-0 win. Mexico dominated both offensively and defensively, holding over 60% possession and not allowing a single shot on target.
All signs point to Mexico being the dominant side in this semifinal clash. But as I always say — nothing is written in stone in football, and upsets can always happen — especially at this stage.

Against the Panamanians, Honduras found a dramatic late equalizer to send the match to penalties, ultimately prevailing in the shootout to reach the Gold Cup semifinals for the first time since 2013.
