Stanley Cup Odds & Market Report: Avalanche & Hurricanes Are Co-Favorites in Wide Open Race

The NHL season gets underway on Tuesday, and the odds board couldn’t be more wide open heading into the season.

The Colorado Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes are the favorites to win the Stanley Cup at +900 at BetMGM. The Avs were +500 before last season to win the Stanley Cup.

Behind the Avalanche and Hurricanes, the Stanley Cup race is wide open as there are six more teams between +1000 and +1400 at BetMGM.

The Avs are getting the most bets of any team heading into the season as they account for a nearly identical 12.6% of the bets and 12.7% of the handle.

However, the New York Rangers are the biggest liability for BetMGM. The Rangers opened at +1400 and have slid back to +2000 despite being the biggest liability. They are getting 7.5% of the bets and account for 12.6% of the handle.

The Seattle Kraken and the San Jose Sharks are the other two major liabilities for BetMGM.

The Hurricanes are one of the biggest movers after opening at +1200 and are now a favorite at +900. The Devils have moved up from +1200 to +1000, while the Penguins have also surged from +3500 to +2500.
