NHL Player Props for Sunday, May 7

William Nylander
Anytime Goalscorer +180 | Over 3.5 Shots on Goal -110 | Multi-Goal Game +1200

Team vs. Team Leafs vs Panthers
Puck Drop  6:30 p.m. ET
Best Line bet365, BetRivers

Hidden by some lucky breaks and incredible goaltending is the fact that the Panthers’ defensive play has been poor. They have allowed 36 high-danger chances against and a total of 9.92 expected goals in two games against the Maple Leafs.

Toronto is due to break through with some higher offensive totals as a team, and William Nylander is the most logical Leafs goalscorer to target considering the odds. He has generated 2.06 individual expected goals in the series and 4.4 this postseason.

Offensively, Nylander’s play really popped later on in Game 2, during which he was very close to breaking through by hitting two goalposts.

If Nylander looks dangerous early in this pivotal Game 3, Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe will likely opt to hand him lots of time on the ice. Keefe acknowledged that Nylander was the most dangerous Leafs skater in the third period of Game 2.

Nylander scored 40 goals this season and is an elite finisher. If he continues to generate chances at such high levels the goals will start to come in bunches.

Roope Hintz Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)

Team vs. Team Stars vs Kraken
Puck Drop 9:30 p.m. ET
Best Line FanDuel

Hintz has had a dominant start to the postseason with five goals and 13 points in eight games. He has put up nine shots from 13 attempts in the first two games against Seattle.

Hintz and Jason Robertson have thrived since the addition of Tyler Seguin to the top unit. That line has controlled play to the tune of a 60.9% expected goal share. The Stars’ top power-play unit continues to look very dangerous, as well, and Hintz is getting quality looks there.

In this road matchup, in which Dallas no longer has the last change, its top line will see more time spent against Adam Larsson and Vince Dunn. That’s the only real concern here, but we have to go back on this prop at this price.

Pick: Hintz Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)

Eeli Tolvanen Over 1.5 Shots on Goal (-150)

Team vs. Team Stars vs Kraken
Puck Drop  9:30 p.m. ET
Best Line BetRivers

Tolvanen is seeing better usage as a result of Jared McCann’s injury in Game 4 against Colorado. His improved role has been reflected as he has averaged 2.6 shots on goal.

Everybody knew Nashville was making a mistake letting Tolvanen go on waivers earlier this season. His shooting abilities are far beyond anybody who should ever end up on the wire, and he plays a defensively sound game to go with that.

If he continues to average greater than 17 minutes of time on ice, he will average more than two shots on goal. The price (-150) might not be an overly exciting number, but I project this bet closer to -200.

BetRivers outlier price holds a ton of value.
