Super Bowl Props: How to bet Gatorade Color

The Super Bowl‘s biggest draw isn’t the game itself (or the commercials), especially if you’re a bettor. It’s all about the props. And each year one of the most popular prop markets to bet for the Super Bowl is the Gatorade color. Trying to find an edge on the postgame bath and actually nailing it can be a victory on top of the win on the field.

This season is no different, as sportsbooks are starting to release novelty props 49ers vs Chiefs and the Super Bowl Gatorade color odds are out. Here’s a look at how two different sportsbooks have the marking shaping up.

You’ll notice a few things that stand out between the Super Bowl Gatorade color markets at each sportsbook. Both DraftKings and BetMGM have purple as the favorite to be the Gatorade color by the end of the game. However, BetMGM has much better odds (+275) than the odds being offered at DraftKings (+175).

In fact, BetMGM has longer odds for four of the seven potential outcomes. The other noticeable difference between the two is the additional color interpretations (lime, pink, water) for three of the options. Determining the actual color — either on the broadcast or in photos of the postgame shower — will almost certainly consume social media once the game clock hits zero.

Based on data from BetMGM, orange has been the most popular color for the postgame Gatorade shower dating back to 2001 at 21.7%, followed by clear/water and blue at 17.4%. Purple, the current favorite at both books, has been the color in just 13% of games along with yellow. Red hasn’t been the Gatorade color (though it does taste better than the rest) over that span and there were four instances with no Gatorade shower.

If you can’t find this market, that’s probably because it isn’t available in your state. But if you’re betting in Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, Washington DC, West Virginia, Wyoming, or Ontario, be sure to look around for the best odds before the Super Bowl kicks off.
