*NFL odds as of Thursday afternoon
Being a New York Giants fan is exhausting.
First, the GMEN got absolutely pummeled by the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
Then one of the largest comebacks in NFL history was needed to beat the tanking Arizona Cardinals by three points.
Like I mentioned, exhausting.
Looking at live NFL odds for Giants vs. 49ers doesn’t provide much hope either, as San Francisco is a massive 10-point favorite heading into Thursday Night Football.
This game could turn into Blowout City, which means I might be able to go to bed early, at the very least.
And while I’m nervous as a fan, there’s much less confusion regarding the smartest NFL prediction for Thursday Night Football.
Let me explain.
Giants vs 49ers Spread Pick
The Giants have struggled to an 0-2 against-the-spread (ATS) record this season, and it may seem contradictory, but that’s exactly why New York is offering value Thursday night.
As a Week 3 underdog that’s failed to cover a spread so far this season, Brian Daboll’s team is a match for the Action Network’s Week 3 Dogs PRO Betting System, which has produced a 56-34 (62%) ATS record dating back to 2005.
In general, bettors aren’t exactly jumping at the opportunity to back teams like the Giants that have already burned them twice to start a season. However, oddsmakers understand this bias and can respond by shading lines toward the favorite.
This, in turn, can provide extra line value for those willing to make the ugly play on the underdogs in these situations.
Speaking of line value, this spread has settled in at New York +10.5, but that doesn’t mean bettors shouldn’t shop for the cheapest vig.
As of the time of writing, Giants +10.5 (-110) — which is available at PointsBet — is the best price out there.
PRO System Pick: Giants +10.5 (-110)
