Sunday NFL Betting Predictions: Biggest Model Edges for Week 17, Including Chiefs-Bengals & Broncos-Chargers

Our NFL PRO Projections are very valuable for all slates, but especially so for Sunday’s Week 17 schedule.

With no Thursday Night Football this week, there are 15 games on Sunday. Now, throw in the added craziness of COVID-19 sending NFL odds all over the place and we have a monster-sized slate that’s been very difficult to keep up with.

Finally, put this NFL Sunday on Jan. 2, meaning that many have been preoccupied with the New Year’s holiday as well as a loaded college football bowl and playoff weekend, and it’s easy to see how some bettors can be coming into today’s games feeling a bit unprepared.

However, as I’ve mentioned in the past, if you’ve spent the weekend focused on college football, partying and/or traveling, The Action Network’s NFL PRO Projections have remained hard at work, aggregating the latest news and data to pinpoint the most undervalued bets available.

And based on our NFL betting model, here are today’s four biggest edges.

NFL Betting Predictions for Week 17

*Odds and data as of Sunday morning

Eagles vs. Washington Betting Prediction

1 p.m. ET | FOX

The Eagles are clinging to the final playoff spot in the NFC, sitting one game ahead of the Vikings, Falcons and Saints. So, a win today against Washington is key considering Philly’s date with Dallas looming in Week 18.

Our NFL betting model projects the Eagles as favorites in this matchup at -3.4, but the market is a bit more bullish on Philadelphia at -4.5.

This, in turn, leaves value on the table for those willing to back Washington at +4.5, which equates to a 3.7% edge with the home underdog.

PRO Projections Pick: Washington +4.5

Chiefs vs. Bengals Betting Prediction

1 p.m. ET | CBS

While notable enough to bet, Sunday’s Chiefs vs. Bengals edge isn’t close to the biggest of the day, but does illuminate the importance of key numbers in NFL betting.

The current Chiefs vs. Bengals spread sits at Cincy +4, and that might not raise alarm bells when compared to our projection of +3.1.

However, getting an NFL underdog off +3 is extremely significant, and by doing so bettors can lock in a 2.9% edge in this matchup.

PRO Projections Pick: Bengals +4

Rams vs. Ravens Betting Prediction

1 p.m. ET | FOX

While not officially official at the time of writing, the NFL Network is reporting that Tyler Huntley will likely start for the Ravens as Lamar Jackson is still hobbled by an injured ankle.

Huntley has filled in admirably when called upon this season and The Action Network’s NFL PRO Projections suggest it’s working backing Baltimore’s backup once again.

Our projected spread of Baltimore +3.4 is well off the widely-available +6.5 (click here for live NFL odds), translating to a beefy 5.7% edge.

PRO Projections Pick: Ravens+6.5

Broncos vs. Chargers Betting Prediction

4:05 p.m. ET | CBS

And we saved the biggest edge of Sunday’s NFL games for last.

The Broncos will be without starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, but the market seems to have overreacted to Drew Lock under center for Denver.

Our model pegs this spread at Broncos +4.6, leaving plenty of value for bettors considering the current consensus line of +7.5.

So, go ahead and snag the hook off one of the most important numbers in football betting and enjoy the 6.4% edge it provides.

PRO Projections Pick: Broncos +7.5
