How Saints vs Buccaneers Odds Changed After Derek Carr Injury

The New Orleans Saints will be without Derek Carr, likely for the next two games, after he suffered an oblique injury Monday night. Carr left in the fourth quarter of the Saints‘ Monday Night Football matchup against the Chiefs and never returned to the field after attempting a deep pass on fourth down.

After the game, Carr said it was the throw, not the subsequent hit, that caused the injury.

“It wasn’t even the hit honestly,” Carr told reporters. “When I dropped back and torqued to throw that ball to [Mason Tipton] that’s when I felt it.”

According to Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Carr is expected to be out multiple weeks.

Backup quarterback Jake Haener replaced Carr on Monday night and went 2-of-7 for 17 yards, but reports from Garafolo indicate that the Saints rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler has a chance to start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.

The Saints opened as 2.5-point home favorites against the Buccaneers on Sunday before their game against the Chiefs, but the line flipped to Bucs -1.5 after Carr’s injury. With the news that Carr will likely be out for Week 6, the line has since moved to Buccaneers -3.5.

The total has also seen a significant change. It opened at 45.5 on Sunday and now sits at 41.5.
