Deshaun Watson has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Wednesday.
“PJ [Walker] is going to start this week,” Stefanski said. “Deshaun is going to focus on his rehab. I just feel like with what happened in the game — landing on his shoulder — there is residual swelling that’s affecting his throwing.”
Watson went down awkwardly during last week’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Initial speculation suggested that it could be a head injury, but it is clear that they are worried about his throwing shoulder.
“I think it’s the best thing for him to rest this week and focus on the rehab,” Stefanski said. “I will always make what I think are the best decisions for our football team and for Deshaun.”

The Browns were 3.5-point underdogs against the Seahawks before the news and remain 3.5-point underdogs as they plan to start PJ Walker.
Walker came in for Watson and led the Browns to a 39-38 win over the Colts. He completed 15 of 32 passes for 178 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
He also played in the win over the 49ers, completing 18 of 34 passes for 192 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
Walker is 2-0 as a Brown and will look to go 3-0 this week against the Seahawks.
