Johnston is yet to clear this in the first four games of his NFL career. He’s a talented receiver, but he isn’t quite as polished as some of the other first-round receivers from the 2023 draft class.

However, Johnston has been elevated into three-receiver sets for the Chargers with Mike Williams out for the season. In Week 4, he saw his routes run rate jump up to 70%. He managed one catch for 18 yards, but Justin Herbert only attempted 24 passes in the win over the Raiders.
Tonight, we should see Herbert attempt 35-40 passes against the Cowboys. Plus, the Chargers are coming out of their bye week, and we typically see rookie receivers get a bit of a boost coming out of bye weeks since they have extra time to work on reps and improve.
Johnston is definitely a candidate to show signs of improvement following the bye week, especially now that he’s in more of a starting role.
I’m projecting Johnston’s median closer to 35.5, and I really like his upside tonight.
Update: You can still get Johnston’s receiving yards total at 32.5 at BetMGM and DraftKings, as of 7:15 p.m. ET.
