The over/under for the Los Angeles Chargers-Kansas City Chiefs matchup on Thursday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET, FOX) opened at 56.5 and steady action has come in on the over.
While 62% of tickets and 64% of dollars wagered on the total have played the over, the number has dropped to 53.5, and even lower at other sportsbooks around the market.
In fact, because of a nasty weather forecast early in the week, the Chargers-Chiefs over/under actually bottomed out at 52 as recently as Monday afternoon.
Windy conditions are still expected, but the current 14-15 mph winds aren’t nearly as severe as what was expected just a few days ago.
As a result, the total for Thursday Night Football has slowly started ticking up back toward the opener, hitting 54 on Wednesday morning before falling back to 53.5.
Assuming the forecast continues to improve with bettors steadily favoring the over, don’t be surprised to see the rest of the market at 53.5 and for that number to move even closer to the opener of 56.5.
