In one of the best Group of Five games of the season, No. 18 Tulane and UTSA battle in New Orleans on Friday night for a chance to play in the American Athletic Conference title game.
The Green Wave are perfect in conference play and only lost at home to a nationally-ranked Ole Miss squad this season.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are also 7-0 in their debut season in the AAC. After winning Conference USA in the last two campaigns, they are looking for their third straight conference championship.
Outside of the league title, the winner here will have a great shot at being the G5 representative in the New Year’s Six.
Let’s dive into the UTSA vs. Tulane odds and make a pick for this Black Friday college football showdown in the AAC.

When the program rose into the AAC in the offseason, fans were curious if coach Jeff Traylor’s team could handle the tougher competition. The Roadrunners haven’t missed a beat, answering those questions by winning their first seven games in the AAC.
UTSA has won 17 consecutive contests against league foes, including the 2021 and 2022 Conference USA Championships.
November has also been a successful month under Traylor as the Roadrunners are 13-1 in November games during his tenure.
Quarterback Frank Harris’ growth has been important for UTSA, and he is coming off his best game yet.
The veteran signal-caller racked up a school-record 643 yards of total offense in the victory over South Florida while earning AAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition. He will need another big game here to give the Roadrunners a chance in New Orleans.

Similar to Traylor, coach Willie Fritz also has his program firing on all cylinders as Tulane has won 22 of its last 25 games over the last two seasons.
No Green Wave team has ever won 20 or more games over a two-year period. The 22 victories since the start of 2022 only trail Georgia (26) and Michigan (24) for the most nationally.
Fritz also boasts one of the top quarterbacks in the nation Michael Pratt. He will leave New Orleans as one of the most decorated players in school history.
Pratt holds the program’s all-time passing record (9,239 yards), highest completion percentage (61.0%) and most passing touchdowns (87). He is one win away from leading his team back to the AAC Championship Game.

This should be an awesome game with two great quarterbacks, and the offenses have a clear advantage over the defenses.
Consequently, my best bet is for this game to fly over the total of 51.5 at FanDuel, and I would not play this beyond the key number of 52.
Yes, both of these defenses do a great job of stopping the run; however, neither of these offenses has any plans of attacking on the ground.
Tulane ranks in the top five among Group of Five programs over the last four weeks in Passing Success Rate. This is not ideal for a UTSA secondary that rates 111th in Coverage Grade by Pro Football Focus.

Meanwhile, the UTSA offense has been in top form since Harris returned from his early-season injury. In the last four weeks, the Roadrunners are among the top five of the G5 in Passing Down Success Rate, Predicted Points Added, Offensive Explosiveness and Points per Opportunity.
Harris leads a high-flying Roadrunners offense against a Green Wave secondary that is 80th in Coverage Grade by PFF and 86th in Passing Success Rate. This is a defense that has given up at least 20 points to all of the tougher offenses on its schedule.
Add in that UTSA is averaging 41 points per game in AAC play, and I really like this to turn into a shootout on Friday.
Pick: Over 51.5 (Play to 52)
