Drew Allar Injured as Penn State Rallies to Cover vs. Wisconsin

It didn’t look so good coming out of halftime for Penn State in Week 9.

The No. 3 Nittany Lions began the second half of their road matchup against Wisconsin trailing and without starting quarterback Drew Allar. Sophomore backup Beau Pribula replaced Allar under center after Allar suffered an apparent left knee injury late in the second quarter.

Penn State entered Saturday’s contest as a 6.5-point favorite (-105) at BetMGM. The Nittany Lions trailed 10-7 at halftime but pulled ahead on a 19-yard pick-six by safety Jaylen Reed midway through the third quarter.

Pribula ensured Penn State covered the spread when he there a one-yard touchdown to Khalil Dinkins early in the fourth quarter. Pribula finished the game 11-for-13 with 98 yards.

Allar departed for the locker room at halftime earlier than the rest of the team, and a trainer accompanied him. Ahead of the third quarter, Allar warmed up with a brace on his knee but didn’t return to the game.

In early October, Allar was among the betting favorites to win the Heisman Trophy. With a highly-anticipated matchup against No. 4 Ohio State next week, Allar’s status will be something to monitor.
