College Football Odds & Picks Week 2: Sharpest Early Betting Predictions, Including Wake Forest vs. Vanderbilt

And just like that we’re onto Week 2 of the college football season.

While college football is one of the most popular sports for bettors, this week is unique in that it’s also the start of the upcoming NFL season.

So yes, college football does compete with the NFL, in general, but there will be even more interest on the professional game as fans, fantasy players and bettors all gear up for Week 1.

But let’s not also forget that college football odds for Week 2 are already available, and even if many recreational bettors haven’t been paying close attention, sharps certainly have, which is evidence in some of the line movement we’ve already seen for Saturday’s games.

With the lion’s share of attention focusing on NFL early this week, let’s go ahead and detail the three college football Week 2 games already landing market-moving action from respected bettors.

College Football Odds, Picks Week 2

*Odds and Week 2 picks as of Tuesday morning

North Carolina vs. Georgia State Pick

12 p.m. ET | ESPNU

As an Appalachian State alum, it was brutal to watch my Mountaineers completely waste a beautifully drawn up two-point conversion play that would have given us (yes, I can say “us” since I went and paid money to the school) a one-point lead with 30 seconds left in the game against North Carolina.

But all misguided anger aside, professional bettors seem to think that the Tar Heels are overvalued against Georgia State following last weekend’s crazy 63-61 win over Appalachian State.

Georgia State opened as a 9.5-point underdog at BetMGM against UNC, and wiseguys immediately blasted the Panthers and the points.

Action Labs’ Bet Signals are reporting three separate Steam Moves hitting Georgia State, and most importantly, the market reacted by adjusting this spread down to +7.5 at most shops across the market.

Remember, 7 is one of the most important numbers in football betting, so be sure to visit the Action Network’s College Football Live Odds Page to snag one of the many books still at +7.5, ensuring you’re not settling for +7.

Pick: Georgia State +7.5

Wake Forest vs. Vanderbilt Pick

12 p.m. ET | SEC Network

It’s not all that often that a road team from the ACC is favored against an SEC opponent — especially one that’s also landing smart money — but that’s exactly what we have for Saturday’s Wake Forest vs. Vanderbilt matchup.

The Deacs opened at -6.5 at FanDuel Sportsbook and have been driven up to -8.5 thanks to the aforementioned wiseguy action.

Similar to UNC vs. Georgia State above, there is a half-point of line variance across the market right now, so be sure to shop and not penalize yourself by taking a bad number.

Pick: Wake Forest -8

Florida International vs. Texas State Picks

7 p.m. ET | ESPN+

Florida International vs. Texas State will get very little attention from recreational bettors, but the pros like it so much that they’ve already hit the spread and over/under.

To start, Texas State initially hit the market as an 11-point favorite over Florida International, and this spread even dipped to -10.5 after opening.

However, sharps were there to lock in that line value, slamming this spread up to -13.5 as of the time of writing.

Respected bettors are relentless when it comes to value, and clearly didn’t wait to also take a big position on the total as well.

After opening at 54.5, the Florida International vs. Texas State total has attracted nothing by over money through Tuesday morning, rocketing this number up to 58.5, and even to 59 in some spots like PointsBet.

Picks: Texas State -13.5 | Over 58.5
