Xavier and Texas aren’t the sexiest teams remaining in the tournament.

But Texas in particular is adored by the advanced metrics.

Prior to the start of the tournament, our Ryan Collinsworth identified three metrics that determined the last three NCAA Tournament champions.

The teams need to have a benchmark Adjusted Offensive Efficiency, Adjusted Defensive Efficiency and Adjusted Efficiency Margin.

Only six teams fit that bill: Houston, Alabama, UConn, Purdue, UCLA. And, of course, Texas.

Only four of those teams remain. Alabama wouldn’t have to face any of the other teams until the national championship game.

UConn could face Houston or Texas in the Final Four. Meanwhile, Texas and Houston could face off in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

How does that factor into tonight’s Xavier vs. Texas matchup?

The Action Network has developed a proprietary betting system that has returned 6% on investment since 2005.

The betting system has a win rate of 55% over that timeframe.

The proprietary betting system utilizes three factors to select an under that fits the parameters of the long-standing system.

  • The game needs to occur on a neutral court
  • The under needs to have fewer than 50% of the money on it
  • The total needs to be between 145 and 180

This system’s philosophy is to fade the public on one of the things they love the most — overs.

A range is used in order to temper variance, and when these sorts of teams compete on a neutral court, the results are proven.

For Friday night, all these factors apply to the under at a market-best price of under 148.5 (-105) at BetMGM.

Do keep in mind that this betting system works best when you use the same unit sizing for as many games as possible that fit the system, over a long sample size.

That’s the best way to maximize its 6% ROI since 2005.

Pick: Under 148.5 (-105)
