My New Mexico vs Marquette NCAAB Betting Preview
I’ve been itching to fade Marquette for weeks now, and I found a matchup I like. I’m going with New Mexico on the moneyline at +150 here.
Richard Pitino’s team has the elite guard play to keep up with Kam Jones. Donovan Dent has been amazing this season, putting up over 20 points per game to power the Lobos offense.
Plus, New Mexico can win the shot-volume battle against Marquette in a couple of ways: by crashing the offensive boards and winning the turnover battle.
Looking at the stats since Feb. 1, Marquette and New Mexico are surprisingly close in the rankings, with Marquette at 45th and New Mexico at 48th despite the Golden Eagles playing in the Big East and the Lobos playing in the Mountain West. So, this game is more of a toss-up than it seems.
Also, let’s not forget that regular-season stats can be a bit misleading this time of year.
When it comes to tournaments, Shaka Smart hasn’t had the best track record with six first-round exits as a head coach.
It’s not out of the question for him to face another early exit, so I’m rolling with the Lobos in this one.
Pick: New Mexico ML
