Colorado State enters the contest with a 25-9 record, earning the 12th seed in the West Region. The Rams are on fire, winning 10 straight games, including the Mountain West Championship.
Nique Clifford leads Colorado State with 19.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The Rams’ momentum makes them a dangerous opponent in this matchup.
Memphis begins the tournament with a 29-5 record after securing the American Athletic Championship. Penny Hardaway’s squad has made the tournament in three of the last four seasons but hasn’t won a game since 2022.
PJ Haggerty, who ranks third in the nation with 21.8 points per game, leads the Tigers. However, Memphis is dealing with injuries, as Tyrese Hunter is doubtful to play.
That’s a factor that could give the red-hot Rams an edge.

New Mexico enters with a 26-7 record, as head coach Richard Pitino has done an outstanding job leading the Lobos to back-to-back tournament appearances.
Guard Donovan Dent has been the team’s star, averaging 20.6 points and 6.4 assists per game.
Marquette begins the tournament with a 23-10 record after falling short of early championship expectations. Shaka Smart’s squad reached the Big East semifinals before being eliminated by St. John’s.
Senior Kam Jones leads Marquette with 19.3 points and 5.9 assists per game.
With a veteran roster and a 22-4 record as favorites this season, the Golden Eagles have the potential to make a deep tournament run.
[subheader sizedown=”true” text=”Illinois -3 (-160)” subtext=”vs. Xavier at 9:45 p.m. ET · CBS” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/ncaab/100/ill.png” link1=”” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
The Xavier Musketeers and Illinois Fighting Illini will face off in Milwaukee on Friday night. Xavier enters with a 22-11 record after a thrilling comeback win over Texas, overcoming a 13-point deficit. Sean Miller’s squad has won four of their last five games.
Veteran Zach Freemantle leads Xavier with 17.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. The Musketeers have momentum, but they’ll face a tough challenge against Illinois.
Illinois comes into the tournament with a 21-12 record, making its fifth straight NCAA appearance under Brad Underwood. Despite an up-and-down season, the Illini have the talent to make a deep run and have also won four of their last five games.
Future first-round pick Kasparas Jakucionis leads Illinois with 15.0 points and 4.6 assists per game.
The Illini’s fast-paced offense (12th in the nation in scoring) could exploit Xavier’s defense and be the deciding factor in this matchup.
