The Atlantic Coast Conference tips off conference play on Tuesday.
As the college basketball season rolls on, the games get more and more important, and the start of conference play typically marks a step up in competition.
Arguably the most popular team in the ACC, Duke, travels to Wake Forest to get ACC play started.
Duke is a seven-point favorite, and we’ve tracked sharp action coming in on one side in this game.
Duke comes into this matchup with a 10-2 record during its first season without Mike Krzyzewski in almost half a century.
The Blue Devils’ two losses came against Purdue and Kansas, two teams ranked among the top 10 in KenPom and the AP Poll.
Wake Forest has started the season 8-4. Three of the Demon Deacons’ losses came against teams ranked in the top 75 on KenPom, and the other was an overtime loss to Loyola Marymount.
Duke vs. Wake Forest Pick
Duke opened as a seven-point favorite in this clash, and that number has stayed around seven since the open.
However, we are currently seeing that number steamed to 7.5 on some books. Meaning it is likely that sharps are coming in and betting on Duke.
Duke is getting 30% of the bets on the spread and accounts for 50% of the handle. The money is heading in the direction of the Blue Devils, and it’s likely that number won’t stay at Duke -7 for long.
Editor’s Note: Since the initial publish of this article, Duke’s star freshmen Dereck Lively II and Dariq Whitehead have been ruled out, and the spread has shifted down to Duke -6.5 as a result. Keep this in mind if you play the Blue Devils on the spread.
PRO Report Pick: Duke -6.5 |
