It was a rough start to Trae Young’s professional career. Just three months ago, he made his Utah Summer League debut and launched not one, but two straight air balls from 3-point land.

Through the Hawks’ three games in Utah, Trae Young shot 12-of-52 from the field — a ridiculously terrible 23%. Even worse, he connected on just 12% of his attempts from deep.
All those Steph Curry comparisons were out the window, as the talk in Atlanta quickly shifted to: “WE TRADED LUKA DONCIC FOR THIS??”
But as the preseason began, he started to figure it out, showing off his elite passing vision:

His shooting percentage also started to improve, and it looks more and more like he will be just fine.
On Wednesday night, he showed us why he’s worth the hype when he launched a 3-pointer from Cobb County with the game tied late in the fourth quarter:

That looks almost 10 feet behind the deepest point of the three point arc.
Just in case you’re wondering, Trae Young is currently listed at 10-1 to win NBA Rookie of the Year.
Happy learned how to putt….
