Minnesota Timberwolves vs Indiana Pacers NBA Preview
The Timberwolves and Pacers are both well under .500 against the spread this season, but as of late, the edge goes to Minnesota. Indiana has only covered in 1-of-10 and the T-Wolves have in 7-of-11. The Wolves are 19-16 against the spread on the road this season, including three of their last four, all four of which were victories.
Based on form, this should be Minnesota, but Anthony Edwards is on the injury report, questionable to play with a thumb injury. Also questionable is Bennedict Mathurin of Indiana, which isn’t nothing, but Mathurin is not Ant. With Ant, I’d lean Wolves, but I need him there.
The moneyline, which probably shouldn’t be viewed much differently given that the line itself is essentially a pick’em. But let’s note that the Pacers have won seven straight at home and in 9-of-10. They have covered in any of their last four home games, but they’ve won them all.
But as alluded to, Minnesota has won four straight on the road. Again, my lean would be Minnesota if Ant is healthy as this could be a tasty revenge spot for Minnesota one week after losing 132-130 in overtime at home to Indy.
If Edwards plays, I like him to hit over 38.5 points, rebounds, and assists. Ant, if healthy, has a good match-up here, which was proven true last week when he recorded 38 points despite shooting 9-of-24 from the field and 1-of-11 from 3, thanks to a 19-of-20 display on free throws. He added three rebounds and five assists.
Will he get 20 free throws again? This time on the road? Probably not. But we can’t count on the same inefficient shooting either, especially the 1-for-11 from deep.
Edwards has over 38.5 PRA in three of his last four and four of his last six. Indiana not only gives up the third most points in the paint per game, but they also give up the second most at home. Plus, the Pacers allow the fourth-most two-pointers made and are top 10 in free throws allowed per game.
It’s a risk given the injury, but it’s betting… all of this is. I’m not doing a parlay here. If Edwards plays, I think this has a good chance to hit.
