The reigning Sixth Man of the Year has remained quite productive off the bench, averaging 12.7 points and 5 rebounds in 24.9 minutes per game. His points and rebounds props are pretty closely in line with his season averages, with a slight bump on the points prop due to the matchup.
The key for me is Reid potentially ascending to a bigger role. He jumped up to 31 minutes last night against the Clippers, playing a crucial part in a victory that ended a 3-game losing streak.
Reid entered for Julius Randle midway through the 1st quarter and then just played the rest of the half. He came in for Randle again midway through the 3rd quarter and didn’t leave the game until under 4 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. He posted 18 points and 7 rebounds against a tough opponent.
Reid has now played 30+ minutes in two of his last four games. He’s scored 18+ points against the Thunder, Celtics, and Clippers in that stretch.
It’s been an impressive run, and head coach Chris Finch is having a hard time keeping Reid off the floor. Reid is averaging 18.5 points and 7.8 rebounds when he plays 30+ minutes (4 games). He was at 20.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in that situation last season (14 games).
New Orleans has allowed the most points per game to centers. They’ve given up the 8th-most points per game to power forwards, if that’s how you want to view Reid. The Pelicans are 29th in defensive rating on the season and 27th over their last 10 games.
I’ll back Reid to keep it going tonight.
Pick: Naz Reid Over 13.5 Points (-109)

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”De’Andre Hunter Over 18.5 Points (-110)” subtext=”Hawks vs. Jazz, 9:00 p.m. ET” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/nba/100/atl.png” link1=”https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/atlanta-hawks” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
Atlanta has finally figured out the optimal way to use De’Andre Hunter. Despite coming off the bench in all but two games, he’s posted career highs in scoring, shots attempts, free throw attempts, and 3-point percentage.
He’s averaging just 27.9 minutes per game, but he’s 2nd on the team in usage rate (career-high 23.9%) and points per game. Hunter’s 19.8 points per game average is 4+ higher than his previous career-best mark.
Jalen Johnson has been ruled out tonight. Hunter has gotten a 1.1% usage rate bump with Johnson off the floor. He probably won’t take Johnson’s place in the starting lineup, but that doesn’t mean Hunter won’t see a bump in minutes.
Vit Krejci drew the start on Sunday in place of Johnson, though Hunter started the 2nd half. There’s some playing-time upside for Hunter tonight.
Utah is dead last in defensive rating. They’ve allowed the 5th-most points per game. Hunter’s current approach aligns well with Utah’s defensive shortcomings. He’s scored 41.2% of his points from 3-pointers, the highest mark since his rookie season.
Hunter has been assisted on 79.5% of his made field goals, easily a career high. Utah has allowed the 4th-most made 3-pointers and 3-point attempts. They’ve allowed the 6th-most assists per game and have the 10th-highest opponent assisted field goal rate.
Pick: De’Andre Hunter Over 18.5 Points (-110)
[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Dennis Schroder Under 3.5 Rebounds (-125)” subtext=”Heat vs. Warriors, 10:00 p.m. ET” center=”false” logo1url=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/759063_Warriors.png” link1=”https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/golden-state-warriors” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
By Jim Turvey
Since joining the Warriors, Dennis Schroder has averaged just 2.3 rebounds per game, continuing a trend of a decreasing rebound rate as his career has gone along.
He was already near a career low of 3 rebounds per game in Brooklyn (with a 5.2% rebound rate that was also near a career low), but that has only grown in the Bay Area.
He’s cleared this total in only 2 of 10 games since joining Golden State, both of which were right at 4 rebounds.
Pick: Dennis Schroder Under 3.5 Rebounds (-125)
