The Pistons face off against the Pelicans this afternoon in what shapes up to be an exploitable matchup for Detroit.
The Pistons will be without Tim Hardaway Jr today after he suffered an ankle sprain, and this should push Malik Beasley into the starting lineup. When Hardaway exited, Beasley played 36 minutes and saw extended run.
This spot against the Pelicans is strong. The Pelicans allow the fourth-most 3 point attempts and the sixth-highest 3-point percentage to their opponents. That’s good for the second-most 3s per game.
Beasley averages 3.9 three-pointers per game, but including the last game when he plays without Hardaway, he’s averaged 5.4 on 12.2 attempts. Let’s back Beasley on Sunday.

The Heat have lost 10 straight games, but they’ve won five first quarters during that span, and even five first halves.
Three times this past week, the Heat have done that and still lost — against the Knicks, Pistons and Rockets.
Twice this week, I’ve written Heat first quarter and/or first half + to lose the game, and have bet it as many times. This time, I’ll just take the Heat in the first quarter, because this is actually a game they can win.
Miami is coming out like a team desperate to win, and likely will again, so I’m taking them early and might live bet later.
One note: Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are questionable. If either are out, I’m not nearly as confident in this, especially if Adebayo is sidelined. But if both are active, or at least Bam is, we’ll move forward with it.

After losing the first three games against Oklahoma City, the Clippers will try to avoid a season sweep when the two sides square off in Inglewood on Sunday night. Los Angeles is playing some of its best basketball lately, matching a season-best five-game winning streak while posting a league-best 128.7 Offensive Rating—2.5 points better than the second-best team during that span.
Interestingly, the team ranked below Los Angeles at No. 2 is OKC, which has also won five straight games. Given the current form of these teams, I’d expect them to go full throttle in this fourth and final regular-season meeting.
Two of the Clippers’ losses against OKC were by double digits, but their best performance came in a high-octane 134-128 defeat.
While Los Angeles is known for being a more methodical team, ranking 22nd in possessions with 98.5 per game, perhaps playing with more pace is key for the Clippers finally getting over the line. As a result, this total feels a bit short at 226.5, considering my model projects a number closer to 228.5.

The Thunder already own a hat-trick against the Clippers this season, but the dynamics might be a bit different tonight.
In the three earlier OKC wins this season (all January 34 or before), the Thunder never had to face Kawhi Leonard. In the last meetings on January 2, James Harden was also out for LA in a 116-98 loss.
Note the one time the Clippers were relatively healthy against OKC they did cover the spread back November 11 at Paycom Center.
This time, the injury shoe appears to be on the other foot, with Harden and Kawhi available for the Clippers, while keys cogs on the OKC side like Jalen Williams and Lu Dort are likely out.
The Thunder have taken care of business against some lesser foes in the last week while shorthanded, but they now face a Clippers squad full of confidence after winning games over the Cavs and Grizzlies at the Intuit Dome earlier this week. Play Clippers.
