The Lakers will need to adjust to life without LeBron James for the foreseeable future, so I expect this to become a Luka-heavy offense.

When LeBron is off the floor, Luka sees his scoring jump from 30.8 points per 100 to a whopping 48.4. He also sees his assists rise from 9.5 to 14.9 per 100, per pbpstats. That’s a near 50% jump in both of those categories!

This matchup against Brooklyn is also soft. They have one of the worst defenses in the league and they have no real answer to throw at Luka defensively.

Without having to defer to LeBron, I think we see a more aggressive Luka in a role he’s likely a bit more comfortable in. I’ll grab over 38.5 Points + Assists.

Jaren Jackson Jr. may be getting closer to a return, but in his absence, Desmond Bane has stepped up. Last night, Bane scored 30 points against the Pelicans, his second 30-point game since Jackson suffered his ankle injury. The Pelicans have the league’s worst defensive rating, but the Suns have not been much better. Phoenix is 27th in defensive rating this season and 30th over the last 10 games.

The last time these teams got together there was nearly 300 points scored. That game went into overtime, but tonight’s total is north of 240, so we should have another high-scoring game tonight. Bane cleared his line of 21.5 points with 25 against Phoenix. It was his sixth 20-point game in his last seven games against the Suns and he has scored 25 in four of them.

Between Jackson being out and his recent performance, Bane’s points has ticked up compared to the last meeting. However, I am fine backing him because of the volume he has received. He has played 35 minutes in five of his last six games. He has also attempted 15 field goals in five of his last six games, attempting 47 in his last two games.

Bane went 8-for-15 in his last game against the Suns and is shooting 48.6% from the field this season. If he is going to get up 20 shots tonight, I like his chances of scoring 25 points and I will also back him for 30 at +250 on DraftKings.

The Nuggets get an immediate chance to avenge a humbling 127-103 loss at OKC on Sunday, when Denver fell apart in the 4th quarter as a 3-point Thunder lead mushroomed to 24.

The difference was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who erupted for 40 points, though the scenario set up well for OKC on Sunday after resting starters in Friday’s win over the Blazers, while Denver was coming off an exhausting 149-141 OT win over the Suns on Friday.

Thus, the Nuggets will be playing their third game in the last four days, and wondering if their tiredness in the 4th quarter on Sunday might have a carryover, but would expect a big effort from Nikola Jokic, who was held to only 24 on Sunday in an MVP showdown of sorts vs. SGA.

Remember, the Joker was coming off the league’s first 30-20-20 triple-double in the preceding win over Phoenix. Play Nuggets.

My favorite angle on today’s card is a 70/30 split of 1-unit distributed across Magic ATS and ML.

This is just as much of back Orlando as it is fade Houston. From Orlando Magic side, they are coming off a great win over Milwaukee and now have 4 games this week lined up that are massive for inevitable playoff seeding race. I expect Orlando to be very mentally locked in the entire road trip, especially early.

Houston just lost Amen Thompson, who may have emerged as a top-2 player for the Rockets team. Without his defense and playmaking, and Fred Van Vleet questionable, the Rockets may rely on Jalen Green to initiate a bulk of offense and the Magic match up with him very well.

Getting the spread at -5 is crucial to the play because of its outcome frequency as the second-most common push number, but I am ok playing it out to -115, and down to +155 on the moneyline.
