UFC Vegas 72 kicks off at 4:30 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT) with prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+ before the main card (7 p.m. ET) shifts to ESPN+ only.
In the main event, bantamweight contenders clash with No. 8-ranked Song Yadong (19-7-1) vs. No. 10 Ricky Simon (20-3). The 135-pounders were originally scheduled to co-headline last weekend at UFC Vegas 71, but they were re-slotted following the cancellation of this weekend’s original UFC Vegas 72 main event: lightweights Arman Tsarukyan vs. Renato Moicano.
In the UFC Vegas 72 co-main event, Caio Borralho (13-1) meets fellow middleweight Michał Oleksiejczuk (18-5).
UFC Vegas 72 fight-week changes include:
- Wednesday: The Emily Ducote vs. Polyana Viana bout has been rebooked for UFC Vegas 73 on May 20 for undisclosed reasons. Trey Waters replaced Ange Loosa in his bout with welterweight Joshua Quinlan for undisclosed reasons. Additionally, lightweights Natan Levy vs. Pete Rodriguez have been rebooked for UFC on ABC 4 on May 13 for undisclosed reasons.
- Thursday: Brian Kelleher has been forced out of his bout with Journey Newson due to medical concerns, and newcomer Marcus McGhee has stepped in as a replacement. The prelim fight is now a 140-pound catchweight affair.
- Friday: Irina Alekseeva (140 pounds) missed weight for her bantamweight bout with Stephanie Egger and was fined 30% of her purse. Hailey Cowan also missed weight (137.5) for her bantamweight bout with Jamey-Lyn Horth and was fined 20%.
