UFC 288 takes place at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The early preliminary card (6:30 p.m. ET) and regular prelims (8 p.m. ET) stream on ESPN+, and the pay-per-view main card is available via ESPN+ PPV (10 p.m. ET).
In the UFC 288 headliner, bantamweight champion Sterling (22-3) looks for his ninth straight win and third consecutive title defense. He meets former two-division champ and Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo (16-2), who returns from a three-year semi-retirement.
In the co-main event, top-five welterweights clash with Belal Muhammad (22-3) vs. Gilbert Burns (22-5) in a non-title five-round fight.
Fight-week changes to the UFC 288 fight card include:
- Tuesday: Diego Lopez has replaced Bryce Mitchell (undisclosed reasons) in a main-card fight with featherweight Movsar Evloev.
- Thursday: The planned curtain-jerker of bantamweights Daniel Santos vs. Johnny Munoz Jr. has been canceled due to a Santos injury.
- Friday: A flyweight bout of Rafael Estevam vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov was scratched due to issues with Estevam’s weight cut. Additionally, middleweight Joseph Holmes weighed in four pounds heavy (189) and was fined 20% of his purse, which goes to opponent Claudio Ribiero. Due to the changes, the UFC 288 start time has moved from 6 p.m. ET to 6:30 p.m. ET.
