There may be some value on Perez’s strikeouts prop.

THE BAT X is projecting him to record 3.25 strikeouts, and oddsmakers are implying 4.00.

The model believes there is a 60% chance he records fewer than four punchouts. If you can get the under at +125 or better, there is great value.

The Phillies have the advantage across the board, as they have the much better offensive lineup, and I give them a pretty significant edge with Cristopher Sanchez on the bump compared to German Marquez.

Marquez is a heavy ground-ball pitcher, but he gives up a ton of hard contact. This Phillies team is great at elevating the ball, with seven of their nine projected starters having above-average fly-ball and line-drive rates. That could lead to trouble for Marquez.

Sanchez had a great season in 2024, and I am very excited for his 2025 campaign. Sanchez is elite at limiting power; he held hitters to a .103 ISO and a .291 wOBA thanks to his elite ground-ball production.

The Tigers have been striking out at comical rates to start the 2025 season, so this is a bit of a scary proposition — but there’s actually a lot pointing to the under.

For one, Detroit was a worse-than-average strikeout team against RHP last season, but not nearly this four-game-sample level –that will come back to earth. The Tigers have a projected lineup with more lefties than righties, but the bigger part of this cap is on the Hancock side.

The young pitcher has struggled to generate strikeouts at the major-league level (14.3% whiff rate), and that’s underlined by one of the worst swinging-strike rates in baseball. He especially struggles to generate whiffs against lefties, who, as we noted, should be prevalent in this lineup.

Hancock’s pitch count should also remain low, with the righty having reached only 66 pitches in Spring Training and the Mariners going light on pitch counts for starters the first time through this season.

The Dodgers and the Braves are going in different directions.

The Dodgers remain undefeated, winning by an average of 2.8 runs per game. In contrast, the Braves have lost all four of their games this season by an average of 1.75 runs per contest.

The Dodgers will be sending Tyler Glasnow to the mound for his first start of the season. As a favorite with odds ranging from -175 to -250, Glasnow boasts an impressive record of 27-3.
