Yainer Diaz has a great track record against Luis Severino.

In seven plate appearances, Diaz has notched three hits, two of which have been home runs. Diaz has had success against fastballs, launching three home runs against the fastball and fastball variants. Severino has three fastballs in his arsenal and throws them 67% of the time.

While Diaz’s exit velocity and raw power stats are average, a combination of the pitching matchup and his success against the four-seam fastball could be just enough for him to go yard.

Expanding on my Reds moneyline pick, I’m doubling down and betting on a good performance from Hunter Greene.

Greene’s fly-ball pitching style should really be helped out today in Kansas City, which is one of the tougher ballparks in the league to hit one out. Further helping that is the Royals’ offense, which has a league low 33 homers this season, just 10 of which have come at home.

Greene has allowed eight homers this season, but just 14 total earned runs. Without the threat of the home run, Greene should cruise and put the Reds in a great position to win. In fact, Greene has only allowed an astonishing two earned runs this season that didn’t come via the homer.

I’m betting two units and counting on Greene to not give up a homer.

This system targets unders in regular-season MLB games in which softer home starting pitchers — defined as starters with low strikeout rates and moderate WHIPs — face off in either the third or fourth game of a series.

By this point in the series, hitters have seen multiple arms and scouting reports are sharper, but the scoring remains muted when the matchup lacks overpowering velocity and winds remain neutral. The setup avoids exaggerated run environments by filtering out strong directional wind influence, which keeps offensive surges in check.

With the home team in the middle of the season grind and winning at a modest clip, the market may overlook how often these quiet conditions lead to slower-paced, low-scoring outcomes.

Overall, this system is 453-302-37 (15% ROI) and this season it’s a remarkable 12-3-1 (50% ROI).

This is a wash, rinse and repeat situation. The Angels are going to be a target in most games this season in which the pitcher has some strikeout competence.

This may be a slightly lofty number for Clarke Schmidt, but the risk is worth the reward.

Sign me up for his over against the Angels free-swinging offense.
