The New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians will clash in an American League showdown. The Yankees are 14-10 and first in the American League East. However, they’re looking to snap a two-game losing streak in this contest. Aaron Judge, betting .411 with seven homers and 25 RBI, leads the offense and Carlos Rodon, who is 2-3 with a 4.34 ERA, will get the start today.
Meanwhile, Cleveland has won a season-high five consecutive games. Kyle Manzardo leads the squad with seven home runs and 18 runs batted in, while Luis Ortiz, who is 2-2 with a 5.48 ERA will take the mound.
I’m backing the road favorite.
I love this spot for the Yankees with Rodon on the mound looking to avoid the sweep. Rodon has great numbers against the Guardians, except for his struggles against Carlos Santana.
The veteran Rodon is coming off his best start of the season as he fired six scoreless innings in his most recent outing and will carry that momentum into today’s start. Additionally, I expect the Yankees’ offense to rebound with a strong performance after a pair of sluggish games..

Yordan Alvarez has had a very slow start to the season, but his underlying metrics don’t look as bad as the actual results.
On the flip side, Blue Jays’ starter Bowden Francis has had some solid outings, but his underlying metrics look like that of a fringe MLB-level starter. Both players are due for regression, so I’m betting on Alvarez’s talent to come through here.
