It’s a tough matchup against the Dodgers, but I’ll back Shota Imanaga tonight.
He owns a career 2.81 ERA through 34 starts and has had some success against the Dodgers in the past (current roster is 9-for-51 against him with 3 HRs, 3 RBI and a .176 batting average). He also held them to four scoreless innings earlier this season.
It’s also a small sample, but the Dodgers have been below average this season against lefties, posting a 81 wRC+. With the Dodgers implied for 4.5 total runs, I’ll side with Imanaga to stay under 3.5 earned runs.

Kyle Tucker is a great play today, even in a slightly below average matchup.
Dustin May is good at suppressing power, but is more susceptible to lefty power as his fly ball rate is a bit higher. The ballpark also isn’t bad for power and the wind is blowout out slightly.
Tucker has been one of the best hitters in the league thus far this season with six homers to go along with career highs in hard-hit rate and barrels. He’s playing some of the best baseball of his career and his line today should be about 70 points lower.

Chris Bassitt is off to a tremendous start, allowing just two earned runs across four starts.
He’s probably not going to lead the league in ERA, but he was an effective pitcher before a down 2024. Bassitt’s 4.16 ERA last season was the first time he’d been above 3.60 since 2019. Control was the big problem last season as he had a 9.2% BB%, his highest since 2018. He’s trimmed it down to 5.4% this season.
Houston has struggled against right-handed pitching in 2025, ranking 25th in wRC+ and 26th in OPS and wOBA. The main key here is the righty heavy lineup. Yordan Alvarez is the only lefty regularly in the mix for Houston and even in a down year, Bassitt held righties to a .234/.310/.309 line in 2024. Lefties smashed him for a .305/.392/.485 line. Bassitt has held righties to a .235/.297/.337 line in his career.

Patrick Corbin somehow limited the Angels to one run in his most recent start, but the underlying numbers show the results should be worse. While his ERA is 3.86 through two starts, his SIERA is 4.54 and his xERA is 5.82. Obviously it’s just a couple outings, but this appears to be the same combustible pitcher we’ve seen for much of the 2020s.
Corbin has an ERA of 5.20 or worse in each of the past four seasons and has allowed the most runs in the league in three of the past four seasons (2021, 2022, 2024).
The Athletics haven’t faced a ton of lefties, but have hammered them when given the chance (4th in OPS and wRC+). Their most recent lineup had a combined .211 ISO and a .333 wOBA against lefties since the start of 2024.
They faced a righty on Sunday, so Tuesday’s group should look even better. Miguel Andujar and his .410 wOBA vs. LHP will likely step into Seth Brown’s spot, for example.
Sutter Health Park has graded out as an elite hitting park so far. It’s behind only Coors Field in Statcast’s park factor. We’ve mostly seen the Athletics’ opponents take advantage of the environment, but this is a good spot for the Athletics to get in on the fun.
