MLB Home Run Picks for August 9
[subheader sizedown=”true” text=”Spencer Torkelson (+450)” subtext=”vs Angeles (SP: LHP Yusei Kikuchi)” center=”false” logo1url=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/461059_det_n.png” link1=”” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/859377_Bet365@1x.png” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
These odds are way too high given the matchup. Yusei Kikuchi has been a gas can for righty power in his career.
Spencer Torkelson is an above-average power bat and isn’t priced as he should be.
I have the true odds on Tork around +350.
[subheader sizedown=”true” text=”Pete Alonso (+375)” subtext=”at Brewers (SP: RHP Tobias Myers)” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/nym.png” link1=”” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/779359_BetMGM800x200@1x.png” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
Pete Alonso gets a great matchup against Tobias Myers.
While Myers has suppressed power to righties well this season, owning a 0.6 HR/9, he’s due for some massive negative regression given his 4.5% HR/FB rate while only striking out righties at an 18.8% clip and allowing a 45% fly-ball rate.
I have the true odds on Alonso under +300.
[subheader sizedown=”true” text=”Shohei Ohtani (+195)” subtext=”vs Blue Jays (SP: RHP Chris Bassitt)” center=”false” logo1url=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-los-angeles-dodgers.png” link1=”” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/779359_BetMGM800x200@1x.png” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]
I’m taking Shohei Ohtani tonight in a great spot vs. Chris Bassitt.
Bassitt has been an absolute gas can for lefty power over the last 3 seasons, posting above-average splits.
Ohtani is a great power bat and isn’t priced for the great matchup.
I have the true odds on Ohtani around +160.
