[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Tarik Skubal Under 7.5 Strikeouts (-129)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/nyyd.png” awayname=”New York Yankees” awayslug=”new-york-yankees” homelogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/461059_det_n.png” homename=”Detroit Tigers” homeslug=”detroit-tigers” date=”Tuesday, April 8″ time=”1:10 p.m. ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”Caesars Sportsbook” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/256064_caesars_800x200.png” bookreviewslug=”caesars-sportsbook”][/gameheader]

By Prop Model

The strikeouts prop for Tarik Skubal looks like a strong wager based on the current data. The line of 7.5 compares favorably based on our MLB simulations as this prop projects to hit 63.78% of the time based on the assumptions, and that represents a 10.29% edge. You can find all prop bet evaluations in ParlayIQ.

Pick: Tarik Skubal Under 7.5 Strikeouts (-129)

[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Dodgers -1.5 (-114)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-los-angeles-dodgers.png” awayname=”Los Angeles Dodgers” awayslug=”los-angeles-dodgers” homelogo=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-washington-nationals.png” homename=”Washington Nationals” homeslug=”washington-nationals” date=”Tuesday, April 8″ time=”6:45 p.m. ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”FanDuel” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/122955_FanDuelSportsBook@1x.jpg” bookreviewslug=”fanduel”][/gameheader]

By Nick Galaida

Washington’s bullpen is in awful shape heading into this matchup, having used Kyle Finnegan in each of the past three games, in addition to using Eduardo Salazar and Lucas Sims in three of of the past four days. Further complicating matters, the Nationals are starting Brad Lord, who is only stretched out to about 50 pitches. That means Washington is likely looking at nine innings needing to be covered by underwhelming arms.

The overnight forecast looks kind of gross, which is the only significant factor that could lead to some unwanted variance. Still, the Dodgers have the better offense and should have a significant pitching advantage.

Los Angeles should be able to take care of business.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-114)

[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Mike Trout Over 0.5 Home Runs (+375)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/laa.png” awayname=”Los Angeles Angels” awayslug=”los-angeles-angels” homelogo=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-tampa-bay-rays.png” homename=”Tampa Bay Rays” homeslug=”tampa-bay-rays” date=”Tuesday, April 8″ time=”7:05 p.m. ET ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”bet365″ bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/859377_Bet365@1x.png” bookreviewslug=”bet365″][/gameheader]

By Grant Neiffer

This matchup isn’t anything special for Mike Trout, but the odds here are far too high.

Trout, when healthy, is one of the best home run hitters in the league over the past few years and is playing in Tampa Bay, a great ballpark for homers. The weather is solid and Shane Baz is around a league average pitcher at allowing homers.

I have the true odds for Trout at close to +300 here, making this a great EV bet.

Pick: Mike Trout Over 0.5 Home Runs (+375)

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Dead President Picks’ Phillies vs Braves Best Bet: Back the Braves”][/subheader]

[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Braves Moneyline (-115)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-philadelphia-phillies.png” awayname=”Philadelphia Phillies” awayslug=”philadelphia-phillies” homelogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/atl.png” homename=”Atlanta Braves” homeslug=”atlanta-braves” date=”Tuesday, April 8″ time=”7:15 p.m. ET” network=”TBS” bookname=”FanDuel” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/122955_FanDuelSportsBook@1x.jpg” bookreviewslug=”fanduel”][/gameheader]

By Dead President Picks

The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves will meet at Truist Park on Tuesday Night. Philadelphia is coming off an impressive series win over the Los Angeles Dodgers and Kyle Schwarber is off to a hot start with four home runs and eight RBI.

Zack Wheeler (1-0, 1.38 ERA) and Chris Sale (0-1, 5.40 ERA) will start this contest and I’m going to ride with the home team.

Atlanta is much better than its record indicates and is in a great bounce-back spot tonight as Sale has dominated this lineup, holding the Phillies to a .218 batting average over 78 at-bats.

Pick: Braves Moneyline (-115)

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Erik Beimfohr’s Padres vs Athletics Best Bet: Strikeouts Aplenty for Cease”][/subheader]

[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Dylan Cease Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-115)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/sd.png” awayname=”San Diego Padres” awayslug=”san-diego-padres” homelogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/oakd.png” homename=”Oakland Athletics” homeslug=”oakland-athletics” date=”Tuesday, April 8″ time=”10:05 p.m. ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”BetMGM” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/779359_BetMGM800x200@1x.png” bookreviewslug=”betmgm”][/gameheader]

By Erik Beimfohr

Dylan Cease is one of the most prolific strikeout artists in baseball. He had the fifth-highest strikeout percentage among qualified starting pitchers last season at 29.4% and has come out with back to back seven-strikeout games to start 2025, despite two tough strikeout matchups in the Guardians and Braves.

The A’s project to have at least five bats in the lineup with a K rate of 24% or higher (since the start of 2023) against right-handed pitchers, and it can only get higher with any lineup adjustments.

Pick: Dylan Cease Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-115)
