[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Orioles vs Tigers Best Bet: Mize Rising?”][/subheader]
[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Tigers Moneyline (-118)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/bal.png” awayname=”Baltimore Orioles” awayslug=”baltimore-orioles” homelogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/461059_det_n.png” homename=”Detroit Tigers” homeslug=”detroit-tigers” date=”Saturday, April 26″ time=”1:10 p.m. ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”FanDuel” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/122955_FanDuelSportsBook@1x.jpg” bookreviewslug=”fanduel”][/gameheader]
The Orioles–Tigers series opener got rained out on Friday, but I’m still on the same bet.
Tigers right-hander Casey Mize was a top draft pick, but he struggled to put things together at the MLB level for a few years. However, he made some strides in 2024 and has had a fantastic start to 2025.
He has allowed one or fewer runs in three of his four starts, and he will be pitching at home in a pitcher-friendly environment.
I trust Mize more than Orioles rookie Brandon Young on the other side. Detroit’s offense also remains an underrated unit.
Pick: Tigers Moneyline (-118)

We are paying some juice here, but I think this is a good line to attack.
If you look at this season’s numbers in the RotoGrinders PlateIQ tool, there are strikeouts to be had in this Minnesota lineup.
Asking for one strikeout or more per inning from Yusei Kikuchi doesn’t seem like a stretch. He’s struck out six in three of his five starts this season.
Pick: Yusei Kikuchi Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-148)

I’m trusting Hunter Greene to get it done against this Rockies lineup.
He’s sitting around a 30% K rate on the season and should see at least seven bats who have a K rate of 20% or higher against right-handed pitchers this season.
Out of those seven bats, five of them are at 27.8% or higher.
I love this one at plus money.
Pick: Hunter Greene Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+120)

[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Pirates vs Dodgers Best Bet: Fade Roki”][/subheader]
[gameheader haspick=”true” picktext=”Roki Sasaki Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)” league=”mlb” awaylogo=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/mlb/100/pit.png” awayname=”Pittsburgh Pirates” awayslug=”pittsburgh-pirates” homelogo=”https://images.actionnetwork.com/blog/2023/08/2023-mlb-logo-los-angeles-dodgers.png” homename=”Los Angeles Dodgers” homeslug=”los-angeles-dodgers” date=”Saturday, April 26″ time=”9:10 p.m. ET” network=”MLB.TV” bookname=”DraftKings ” bookprimarylogo=”https://assets.actionnetwork.com/477013_DraftKings@1x.png” bookreviewslug=”draftkings”][/gameheader]
Sasaki may develop into a solid MLB pitcher in time, but the results so far have been discouraging.
His biggest issue has been not throwing enough strikes. Sasaki has an egregious 16:16 K:BB over 19 2/3 innings. His 18.6% walk rate is untenable. He has thrown just 57.3% of his pitches for strikes.
When Sasaki does find the zone, he’s getting hit.
He’s allowed a zone contact rate near 90%. His SwStr% is a subpar 9.2%. His CSW% is an underwhelming 24%. For context on those marks, only nine qualified pitchers had a SwStr% below 9.2% in 2024; no qualified pitcher had a CSW% below 24%.
The Pirates have shown impeccable plate discipline so far. They’re only 14th in K% against RHPs, but they’re fifth in BB%.
Pittsburgh has the sixth-best K:BB vs. RHP. Tonight’s projected lineup has a 21.2% K% and a 10.3% BB% across 582 plate appearances against righties this season.
The Bucs haven’t done a ton of damage on offense, but they’ve been discerning at the plate. It’s a bad setup for Sasaki.
Pick: Roki Sasaki Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+105)
