I’m going to try to attack Charlie Morton in this one, but with the White Sox offense, I’m going to lean into Adrian Houser keeping this game within reach.

Morton has had a horrific start to the season, but he has had a few reasonable outings lately. Maybe he is turning it around some, but with how bad his start was, it’s still very up in the air to me.

Houser, on the other hand, looks like a new pitcher compared to last season, with nearly a 2 mph increase on his fastball compared to last season and added velocity across the board. He shut down the Mets and the Mariners and might be a lot better than we have been used to.

Getting this game to be tied or better through the first five innings (F5) seems like a very reasonable bet to make.

Ryan Weathers has looked phenomenal in his three starts, allowing just two earned runs over 15 2/3 innings. He was cruising toward six scoreless innings last time out against San Diego before his defense let him down in the sixth inning. Weathers’ velocity is up, he’s throwing strikes, and he’s getting swings and misses at a career-best level.

Hayden Birdsong has been nearly as impressive, though much of his work has come out of the bullpen this season. He shut down Kansas City in his first turn in the rotation before running into some trouble against a good Detroit offense.

Birdsong had a season-high six strikeouts against the Tigers, but they were able to string some hits together near the end of his outing. This matchup against the Marlins will be easier.

Miami has improved on offense after a sluggish start, but it was still only 19th in wRC+ vs. right-handed pitching in May. San Francisco is bottom 10 in OPS and wOBA against lefties this season.

It’s a tougher matchup against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers, but getting Judge at a reasonable line of 1.5 is simply too good to pass up.

Judge has the most hits in the league, the second-most runs, the third-most RBIs, and the highest batting average. Clearly the best hitter in baseball, he should be able to get there even against a good pitcher.
