Barstool Sportsbook promo code ACTNEWS1000 unlocks a $1,000 sign-up offer for all new users. Here’s how it works.
Just make your first wager, and if it loses, you’ll be refunded what you lost in bonus cash, up to $1,000.
Barstool has another offer available for the NFL only, with promo code ACTNEWS150. That gets new users $150 in bonus cash.
- Bet $20 on an NFL game (like Thursday Night Football)
- You’ll get $150 in free bets if the game has 150+ yards total.
- It must be a pre-game, single wager. No parlays. You also can’t just bet it and cash it out, the bet must settle.
- There are no odds restrictions, so you can bet $20 on something that’s -450, for example.
We’ll explain more below.

How do the Barstool promo code and free bets work?
We explained how different promo types work at sportsbooks, if you want to read up on that first.
Offer 1: Risk-Free Bet
OK, first up is the risk-free bet using promo code ACTNEWS1000.
You can wager up to $1,000 on your first bet, and if it loses, you’ll be refunded in bonus cash that same amount you lost.
Let’s dive into an example.
You deposit and bet $100 on Louisiana-Lafayette moneyline against Marshall in Wednesday night Sun Belt action. The Ragin’ Cajuns are priced at +310 at Barstool as of this morning (we always recommend using promotional bets on plus-money wagers, since there’s more expected value).
- If ULL wins, you’ll profit $310 ($100 x 3.1) and keep the original $100. So you’ve now got $410 in your account.
- If ULL loses, you’ll get $100 back in bonus cash.
Pretend ULL doesn’t win, and you get the $100 in bonus cash back.
You put it all on Penn State moneyline at +205 against Michigan on Saturday.
- If PSU wins, you profit $205 ($100 x 2.05) and keep the $100. Keeping the stake is pretty unique to Barstool; most books don’t give you the free bets/bonus cash back.
- If PSU wins, you end up with nothing.

Offer 2: NFL Bet $20, Get $150
Let’s now cover the NFL offer. It is the better offer, if you want to wait until Thursday Night Football or Sunday action.
Step 1: Get the free bets by betting $20 on the NFL
Just bet $20 on Commanders-Bears or any other NFL game this weekend.
Let’s pretend we bet $20 (or it could be more) on the Bears moneyline at -110 on Thursday. It must be a single bet, not a parlay, and it can’t be cashed out before the game ends.
If the Bears win, you keep the profits. But either way, you get $150 in free bets if there are 150+ yards in the game.
Step 2: Use the free bets
Like we covered above, the optimal way to use promo bets is on plus-money wagers. So while all plus-money wagers won’t win, you’ll win more over time.
Now that you’ve got $150 in free bets, you can use them on anything.
Let’s say you bet it all on Tennessee moneyline against Alabama (remember, plus-money). The Vols are +235 as of Wednesday morning.
- If Tennessee wins: You win $352.50 ($150 x 2.35) and keep the $150. That’s now $502.50 in your account.
- If Tennessee loses: You’ll lose the $150 in free bets, and just have your deposit amount left.
