Race 7 — Ogden Phipps Stakes

Distance: 1 1/16 Miles

Surface: Dirt

Post Time: 2:36 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 5 Idiomatic (3-5) is looking to win seven in a row. She is the class of the field and has won at the distance. While she’s not going to be much value, she’s the one to beat.

Race 8 — Woody Stephens Stakes

Distance: Seven Furlongs

Surface: Dirt

Post Time: 3:22 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 1 Book’em Danno (9-2) just missed against Forever Young, who finished third, by a tough long nose in the Derby. He has a stalking style, which fits in nicely here given the speed. Irad Oritz Jr. stays aboard, which is promising. A horse that is used to being the favorite and running to his odds will get his first real stateside test and we feel he will not disappoint.

Race 9 — Jaipur Stakes

Distance: Five and a Half Furlongs

Surface: Turf

Post Time: 4:08 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 6 Star of Mystery (6-1) has run against the boys in her last four races. She’s won twice and finished second twice. Trainer Charlie Appleby wins at a 45% clip with first time North American starters, and when he teams up with jockey Flavien Prat, they are a perfect 3-for-3 in these situations.

Underneath

No. 8 Cogburn (2-1) is the deserving favorite, he won impressively in the turf sprint on Derby Day last time. It’s also important to note that jockey Irad Oritz Jr. stays here over the No. 2 Arzak.

No. 12 Mischief Magic (8-1) had no excuses last time and should get more pace to run into today. He gets jockey William Buick back in the saddle, who has ridden him to three of his six victories.

Race 10 — Hill ‘N’ Dale Metropolitan Handicap

Distance: One Mile

Surface: Dirt

Post Time: 4:52 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 2 National Treasure (8-5) cuts back in distance. He should be on the lead. Rumor has it that he isn’t sound, but that was also the same rumor going around before the Pegasus World Cup, and look how that ended up for him.

Underneath

No. 6 White Abarrio (6-5) ran huge Beyer Speed Figures as a 4-year-old. He threw up a clunker in last race in the Saudi Cup but will be able to sit a stalking trip with the other pace.

No. 4 Blazing Sevens (8-1) was on the Derby trail last year and ran second to National Treasure in the Preakness. He was off for nine months and came back to win an allowance race last time out. Trainer Chad Brown places his horses where they fit.

Race 11 — Manhattan Stakes

Distance: 1 1/4 Miles

Surface: Turf

Post Time: 5:36 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 5 Program Trading (5-2) was very professional last time, sat a perfect trip and came up the rail. His versatile running style could be the difference for him today.

Underneath

No. 7 Nations Pride (9-2) has arguably run against the best turf horse in the country in Silver Knott. You could make the argument that Nations Pride needed that last race. The slight cut back could very well be the difference for him.

No. 1 I’m Very Busy (9-2) threw up a clunker last time yet has seemingly taken a step forward as a 4-year-old, putting up his two best Beyer Speed Figures. If he’s able to get back to those numbers, he’s very dangerous here.

Race 12 — Belmont Stakes

Distance: 1 1/4 Miles

Surface: Dirt

Post Time: 6:41 p.m. ET

Top Pick

No. 5 Antiquarian (12-1) is lightly raced. He has a similar pattern to last year’s Belmont winner, Arcangelo. Paired Beyer Speed Figures in his last two, so he is set to take a step forward. His stalking style will also play a big factor here and at the current price, he’s too good to pass up.

Underneath

No. 10 Mindframe (7-2) has dominated in his two career starts. He has shown some versatility, winning from the front and coming from just off. This will be first time running off in his last six, but there are a lot of people saying he’s the best Repole 3-year-old.

No. 9 Sierra Leone (9-5) was in the stretch again in the Derby. Is the difference the jockey-change to Flavien Prat or the change in bit? He won the Blue Grass, but still looked green in the stretch. Trainer Chad Brown immediately pointed to him after the Derby so you know he’s ready to fire.
