Chris Kirk Opens PGA Tour Season with Win at 200-1 Odds

The PGA Tour season started with a bang.

Chris Kirk won the The Sentry after closing at 200-1 odds before the tournament.

Kirk’s 29-under was good enough to beat the 59-player limited-field event. Kirk shot an 8-under 65 to close it out Sunday.

The +20000 odds could have been found at SuperBook pre-tournament. SuperBook opened Kirk’s odds at +15000 before moving it to +20000, as there were no pre-tournament outright bets on him, according to Jeff Sherman, the golf oddsmaker at SuperBook. There were no winning tickets on Kirk.

Most sportsbooks had Kirk between +12500 and +15000 pre-tournament. bet365 had Kirk at +14000, according to our odds post before the tournament.

Sahith Theegala finished one shot back of Kirk, while Jordan Spieth finished two shots back. Kirk beat a field that included Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay and Max Homa. The field consisted of eight of the world’s top 10 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Kirk earned $3.6 million for his win.

The PGA Tour will stay in Hawaii next week for the Sony Open, a full-field event.
