Freddy Peralta has been quite productive on the strikeout front — he has seven or more strikeouts in three of his past four starts — but this looks like a good time to fade him.

Peralta gets a tough matchup against a Cubs team that is projected to roll out a lineup that has just a 19% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Peralta does have more success striking out righties than lefties, but of the five righties in the projected lineup, three have a strikeout rate below 17%. This number is also sitting around -150 on other books, so there is some value at -122.

Clay Holmes limited the damage in his last start, but managed just two strikeouts. He has an ugly 23:21 K:BB over his past eight starts and in that stretch, Holmes’ strikeout rate has fallen to 13.2% and his SwStr% is down to 7.6%. Length is also a concern as Holmes hasn’t completed six innings since early June.

Additionally, San Diego has the fourth-lowest strikeout rate vs. right-handed pitching in July and have been league average in wRC+.
