The San Francisco Giants (41-31) host the Cleveland Guardians (35-35) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. First pitch from Oracle Park is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Bay Area and Guardians TV.
It’s a big Tuesday in the Bay Area as Rafael Devers is set to make his debut for the Giants since getting traded from the Boston Red Sox.

Slade Cecconi gets the ball for the Guardians tonight. Cecconi has flashed moments of dominance in 2025, especially via the strikeout.
Cecconi has a 4.26 ERA, but sports a 5.87 xERA. That is concerning, as it appears that regression is looming.
He does have a 26% strikeout rate and a 28% whiff rate, which suggests that when hitters make contact, they are causing severe damage. Cecconi could benefit from a pitcher-friendly Oracle Park tonight, but a 49% hard-hit rate and a 32% ground-ball rate give me cause for concern.
This is also a terrible matchup for the Guardians’ offense. They are batting .185 lifetime off Robbie Ray, and they are a worse offensive unit against left-handed pitching.
They also perform worse offensively on the road, and tonight’s pitcher-friendly confines do not make me feel any better. With the uncertainty of Cecconi’s performance, I have a tough time believing the Guardians can win tonight.

Robbie Ray continues to assert his dominance in the National League, and he is certainly in the race for the NL Cy Young Award. It’s an incredible matchup for Ray tonight, so I expect him to continue his early season dominance.
Ray has a 2.55 ERA and 92 strikeouts over 81 innings. His xERA is excellent, only a touch higher than his actual ERA at 2.89.
What’s been impressive about Ray in 2025 is his opponent’s xBA, which is .206. He is prone to allowing hard contact at times, but is certainly benefiting from the pitcher-friendly Oracle Park.
With a low walk rate, Ray is capable of carving up the best lineups in baseball if he is at his best. The Guardians already struggle offensively on the road and against lefties, so there is no reason why Ray can’t turn in another strong performance.
With Rafael Devers now added to the Giants lineup, their outlook has completely changed. Offensively, they have a much more fearsome lineup, one full of hitters who can hit the ball extremely hard.
That should allow the Giants to jump out to an early lead, allowing Ray to settle in nicely.
Guardians vs Giants Prediction, Betting Analysis
I am going to fade the Guardians in the first five innings and target their team total under. I really like the Giants to win tonight, but in terms of betting value, I think this is the best approach.
We were successful betting on Ray last week against the Athletics and I am going to roll the dice here in what is an extremely favorable matchup.
I have uncertainty about Cecconi performing well, so I would much rather target the Guardians’ under instead of the overall F5 under.
Pick: Guardians F5 Innings Team Total Under 1.5

Moneyline
Although I like Giants to win, I will not be betting on either side of the moneyline. The value is not there.
Run Line (Spread)
I’m also not betting on the run line tonight.
Over/Under
As mentioned, I see an edge on the Guardians first five innings team total under.
