This is a classic spot to fade the Rockies. They’re coming off two straight home series and have historically struggled in their first road game after an extended stretch at Coors Field.

The Rockies are last in the majority of offensive categories against right-handed pitching on the road. In a massive sample of 920 plate appearances, they’ve posted a .570 OPS, a .253 wOBA and a 57 wRC+. No other team has an OPS below .600 or a wRC+ below 70 vs. right-handed pitching on the road.

Bryce Elder is coming off one of the best starts of his career, piling up 12 strikeouts over eight innings against San Francisco. He’s been in and out of Atlanta’s rotation this season, though that’s no fault of his own. Elder is locked into a rotation spot now, and he’s been effective. He’s allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven straight starts and his ERA is a bit above 4.00, but he has a 3.47 xFIP and a 3.70 SIERA. Elder has been unlucky with a 18.8% HR/FB rate and has an elite ground-ball rate, so the few fly balls he allows just need to stay in the yard.

There are some slight weather concerns in Atlanta tonight and a rain delay would play in our favor as it could cut Elder’s outing short.

This system is 834-991-0 (46%) lifetime with a 9% ROI. However, this season, it has been on an absolute heater as it’s 25-14 (64%) and has generated an absurd 52% ROI.

This system focuses on MLB underdogs, which is why the lifetime record is below .500, but the ROI is positive. It targets games later in the season in which the opponent has a winning record and won at least 70 games in the prior season, suggesting the favorite has truly established itself as a solid team and isn’t in the middle of a one-year, unanticipated surge.

It also targets teams getting less than 29% of the moneyline bets, which is the case here as the public is all over the Dodgers.
