Ben Mathurin has a real, obvious role of importance in this series despite the fact he doesn’t play “Pacers-style” basketball.
He’s a slow-it-down, isolation, 1-on-1 scorer who can create legitimately good looks with his combination of size and strength, even against this amazing Oklahoma City Thunder defense.
He also has the capability of doing insane things, like scoring 27 points in 22 minutes, 20 points in 12 minutes, or 23 points in 25 minutes — all of which he has done just a shade over two weeks from today.
I think his impact on this series is real. It’s a legitimate change of pace, and at times, he’s Indiana‘s best scoring option on the floor.
Mathurin can disrupt the flow in a positive way, especially in a series where both teams are attempting to make the other uncomfortable by taking away preferred options.
He seems to thrive in that tension, and Rick Carlisle knows it, so he’s putting him in a position to succeed.
I think Mathurin goes over 10.5 points here, which would be his third over in four games and his fifth in seven.
Pick: Bennedict Mathurin Over 10.5 Points (-130)

Jalen Williams has had over 5.5 rebounds just once in this series, but this is more of a play built on the uncertainty involving Thunder rebounds in general.
Chet Holmgren has gotten 6, 6 and 10 –stop me when you feel like you absolutely know which version of him is going to show up on a game-to-game basis.
Isaiah Hartenstein has been limited to 17, 22, and 18 minutes this series, and his boards have dropped from 9 to 8 to 3.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has had 5, 5, and 8. The five is his general average, though it’s closer to six in the playoffs.
I like J-Dub here because his rebounding floor is often around where his over/under is. Do I need six boards? Cool. He’s gotten 4, 5, and 6 in this series. Of the 19 playoff games he has played, he’s gotten at least four or more in all but three –and those were against Denver and Minnesota.
He has six in nine of them, but all six came in his last 11. And the Pacers, from a rebounding standpoint, are still a better match-up in totality than Denver or Minnesota for Williams.
I usually like the rebounds + assists, although I got -118 on just the boards, and I’m seeing -120 on RA.
Pick: Jalen Williams Over 5.5 Rebounds (-135)
