Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev Preview, Prediction
Djokovic Betting Preview
Djokovic’s clay-court season can be described as topsy-turvy. The veteran lost in the opening round of both Monte-Carlo and Madrid and then pulled out of Rome after the losing streak.
Djokovic turned things around, though, winning the 250 event in Geneva (defeated Hubert Hurkacz in three sets in the final) and cruising through his first four matches in Paris.
Now he steps up a level to face Zverev, who he’s beaten eight times in his career, including a straight-set victory at Roland Garros back in 2019.
Zverev Betting Preview
The knock on Zverev has always been his inability to win the big one. He’s never won a Grand Slam in his career and he occasionally shows that his mental toughness isn’t on the same level as his opponents.
But Zverev reached the final at the Australian Open this season and the final at the French Open in 2024, proving that he’s right on the cusp of breaking through.
At No. 3 in the world, this is Zverev’s best chance to win his elusive first major.
The good news is Zverev is fresh coming into this quarterfinal match, as he barely recorded court time against Griekspoor in the previous round and has dropped just a single set in this event.
Djokovic vs Zverev Predictions, Betting Analysis
Despite being 38 years old, Djokovic still has elite fitness, and the fact that he hasn’t dropped a set in this tournament allows him to match Zverev in that category.
To be honest, this is an even match all around for these two, which is reflected in the line. Every match they’ve played since 2021 has been extremely competitive, and I’m expecting the same on the clay on Wednesday.
But I just trust Djokovic more in this spot.
He’s 3-1 vs. Zverev in Grand Slams, with the lone loss coming in the Aussie Open this year when he retired following the first set.
Djokovic hasn’t won a major since 2023, indicating his career is slowing down at 38 despite recording the most Grand Slam titles in history (24).
Wimbledon is probably his best chance to snap the title-less streak, but I’m predicting one more victory for the Serbian to set up a Jannik Sinner-Djokovic semifinal.
The difference in this match comes down to mental toughness, and I believe in Djokovic in that area over Zverev.
Djokovic vs Zverev Pick: Djokovic ML -110
