The Rangers lineup should net out as one of the best in baseball this season, but this is still a fairly playable number for Brady Singer.
Over the weekend, no team in baseball averaged fewer pitches per plate appearance than the Rangers. They also lost third baseman Josh Jung to the injured list after Friday’s game, which means we should see the right-handed-hitting Jonathan Ornelas in the lineup more regularly going forward.
If Ornelas is in the lineup, that should mean at least five right-handed bats in the lineup against Singer, who finished 2024 with a 3.05 FIP and 0.92 WHIP against them. It’s also forecasted to be rather cold in Cincinnati tonight, with temperatures expected to be below 50 degrees at first pitch. Singer should have an opportunity to come back out for the sixth inning if he can avoid getting hit around too badly.
