The New York Knicks took care of business last night against the Washington Wizards, and now face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in their second game in as many days. Last night, the Knicks were powered by a rare double triple-double from Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns. Tonight, they will face a much tougher matchup against a Western Conference contender.
The Knicks held out Mitchell Robinson from last night’s game due to injury management, so we will have to see whether he plays tonight. They were also without Miles McBride and Jalen Brunson, which opened up significant minutes for rookie Tyler Kolek. If Kolek gets extended playing time again, it would not be surprising to see him continue to rack up assists. In his past two games, he has recorded eight and nine assists with zero turnovers. Meanwhile, the Clippers have listed James Harden as questionable for this game.

The Knicks have struggled immensely in these situations — when they are either on zero rest or playing with a rest disadvantage. They are just 2-9 against the spread when playing on zero days’ rest and 3-11 against the spread when at a rest disadvantage. On the flip side, the Clippers have been one of the best teams in the league when they have a rest advantage, going 13-5 ATS in those situations.
The Knicks do a poor job of defending the three-point line, allowing opponents to shoot at the second-highest percentage in the league. Fortunately for the Knicks, this is not an area where the Clippers shoot particularly often. However, they still shoot above the league average from beyond the arc. When these teams played a couple of weeks ago, Jalen Brunson was also out, and the Clippers won 105-95. They were carried by strong performances from beyond the arc, with James Harden and Nicolas Batum each making five 3s. This sets up well for those two, as well as for Norman Powell, now that he is back.

This is a tough situational spot for the Knicks against a top-tier defense. I have to take LA in this spot.
