Harden is averaging 8.6 assists on 14.1 potential assists this season, so the line is on par with his season-long numbers. Multiple factors could push Harden above his season average tonight.
Norman Powell remains out for the Clippers. Harden has seen a team-leading 5.5% usage rate increase with Powell off the floor. Kawhi Leonard is not on the injury report. Harden’s assist rate has jumped by 3.7% in 400 minutes with Leonard this season.
Harden already has one of the highest assist rates in the league, so it’s a notable boost. He’s up nearly 40% when Leonard is in the game. Harden has averaged 10.3 assists in 19 games with Leonard available.
New York has been volatile on defense this season, and they’re currently in a lull. The Knicks are 19th in defensive rating and 24th in points allowed over the past 10 games. They’re allowing the 5th-most assists per game in that stretch.
Mitchell Robinson is finally back to give New York a boost on defense, but he’s unlikely to suit up tonight on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. It should be a solid matchup.
Pick: James Harden Over 8.5 Assists (-114)
[subheader sizedown=”false” text=”Zach Edey Over 18.5 Points & Rebounds (-130)” subtext=”Grizzlies vs Mavericks, 7:30 p.m. ET” center=”false” logo1url=”https://static.sprtactn.co/teamlogos/nba/100/mem.png” link1=”https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/odds/memphis-grizzlies” link1follow=”true” logo2url=”” link2=”” link2follow=”true” trailinglogourl=”” trailinglink=”” trailinglinkfollow=”true”][/subheader]

The pattern with Edey is that he struggles against good teams but is good against bad teams. That is partly due to his minutes, as head coach Taylor Jenkins trusts him much more against inferior opponents.
This season, his four highest minute totals are against Brooklyn, Utah, Toronto, and New Orleans. In those games, he averaged 19.8 points and 11 rebounds — comically large jumps from his season averages of 9.3 points and 7.8 rebounds.
Tonight, he draws a decimated Mavericks team starting Naji Marshall (6’6″) and Dwight Powell (6’10”) in the frontcourt.
Pick: Zach Edey Over 18.5 Points & Rebounds (-130)
